Musing Mondays (#10)

I’m not a fan of Mondays, but I do really enjoy participating in Musing Mondays!

ezgif-1545491241For those of you who don’t know, Musing Mondays is hosted by the awesome MizB every Monday. This is a blog hop where participants have to answer one of the pre-set prompts of (I’m currently reading…; Up next I think I’ll read…; I bought the following book(s) in the past week…; I’m super excited to tell you about (book/author/bookish-news)…; I’m really upset by (book/author/bookish-news)…; I can’t wait to get a copy of…; I wish I could read ___, but…; OR I blogged about ____ this past week…). And you also have to answer an additional random question which is different every week!

This week I’ll be answering one of the weekly prompts, before answering the random question for this week…

I’m super excited to tell you about:

The launch of Calendar Girls on Dec. 3rd!

And also the launch of the event’s official banner (today, right here, right now!). Well, this is one version of the banner, and you’ll have to keep an eye on my co-host’s blog to see the other version!

But, what is Calendar Girls? Let me tell you!

Some months ago, fellow blogger Melanie and I had decided that we wanted to host a monthly blog event together! And since that time we have worked together to come up with an event which we think will be fun and engaging not only for us, but all of our other participants! When Melanie recommended that we base the event on, or let ourselves be inspired by Neil Sedaka’s 1961 song Calendar Girl, I was all for it. Therefore, our event will have a specific theme each month, which participants will use to select the book which they will discuss! Ps. book selections are to be kept secret until we post our reveals every first Wednesday of each month! For more details, check our my launch post, and Melanie’s launch post!

Or if what I’ve mentioned so far already sounds pretty awesome to you, you can skip that step and either comment at the bottom of either of our launch posts that you’d like to join, and/or sign up for the newsletter directly from here!

And now I will be answering this week’s random question:

Do you visit your local library regularly? If so, what’s your earliest memory of visiting a library?

Yes, I do visit my local library quite regularly, although not as often as I used to! Some years back, I used to visit the library at least once a week, whereas now it’s once to thrice a month! I should probably change that and go there more often, especially since my boyfriend lives right by one of the smaller local library branches. I do also have a ton of books which I purchased over the last year sitting on my shelf, waiting to be read…so that makes me feel guilty when I get books from the library, haha. So I try to only do that if I absolutely have to read a book right away!

As for my earliest memory of visiting the library…the earliest memory I can recall is of my sister and I accompanying my dad to the library sometime in 2000 or 2001, right after we had moved to Canada. He used to read a lot back then, and my sister and I liked to pick out comic books from the series such as Asterix and Obelix and Tin Tin to take home with us and read. I am very grateful that my father introduced us to the library, and that he would take us there when we were too small to get there ourselves!

THANK YOU FOR READING MY POST! PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO PARTICIPATE IN MELANIE AND I’S BLOG EVENT! ALSO, WHAT IS YOUR EARLIEST MEMORY OF VISITING THE LIBRARY? LET ME KNOW IN THE COMMENTS BELOW!

I am going to check these launch posts right now because I am intrigued!

I don’t go to the public library enough either Flavia, one of the reasons being the same as you, I’ve bought to many books I feel guilty for reading library books. But that doesn’t stop bringing home interesting books from work!

I don’t go to the library, which is odd because books are expensive. I guess I just like having my own copies and not having a due date to return them by. I used to love going to the library at my school though. I would always read 1-2 books a week and exchanging the books each week for new ones. Everybody else must’ve thought I was insane for actually reading and searching through books during the time we went there because usually people used that time to just talk and hang out with friends, while I just spent my time with a book haha.

I totally agree about wanting your own copy and having no due dates. I also don’t like having to wait for books I’ve put on hold to become available haha, especially if I want to read them right away! And my school library kind of sucked, or I would have done the same haha. I just got my books from the public library and my dad’s bookshelf hehe.
