#ARCstravaganza (#9): Warcross by Marie Lu

Happy Monday everyone! And more importantly, happy #ARCstravaganza day! How was everyone’s weekend? Did you do anything exciting? Or did you get lots of reading time?! My weekend was insane! But in a good way. I was very lucky to have been invited to the Fall Preview by Penguin Random House Canada on Friday, which was a great event (and every exciting for me, since it was my first one)! I was able to hear about some awesome, upcoming releases, and hear from three Canadian authors (whose books I was also able to take home after the event). The drive from my home, to Toronto, is no joke. But it was definitely worth it to attend this event. On Saturday I worked for 12 hours, and Sunday I was up early, and headed back to Toronto for HarperCollins’ Frenzy Presents event! There we heard about some awesome upcoming YA from HarperCollins, heard from star authors Angie Thomas (The Hate U Give), Julie Murphy (Dumplin‘, and Ramona Blue), and Becky Albertalli (Simon VS. the Homo Sapiens Agenda)! I will be blog posts about this event, and the Penguin one as well, so keep an eye out for those this week or next!

For those of you coming across this meme for this first time, it was originally created by Krysti at YA and Wine, and hosted by her, and Sarah at The Clever Reader. Due to personal circumstances, however, they have had to let it go. We were all very sad to see the meme go, but then Krysti asked me if I wanted to take it over, and I said yes!

For those of you unfamiliar with #ARCstravaganza, it’s a meme meant to encourage book bloggers to show off and discuss their ARCs (advanced reader copies)! If this sounds like something for you, please check out the info page about the meme here. Another change is that #ARCstravaganza participants can share their posts on their blogs, Instagram, or Twitter (or all three)! Please just be sure to tag your social media posts with the hashtag, or share a link to your blog post on my blog post for each week, so that we can find it!

As those of you following me on social media will know, my reading schedule for September and October got way out of hand! Both months were already filled up many weeks ago, but the more that I saw people raving about Warcross by Marie Lu, the more I felt as if I would really miss out if I didn’t request a copy and read it. The rational side of my brain said “no, Flavia. You have enough books to read for like…the next millennia.” But my heart won out, as it usually does, and I sent in a request. Sigh. But, no regrets! The book came in the mail last Friday, while I was away at the Penguin event that I mentioned in my intro (which I found amusing, since the book was sent to me from that office), and I was able to film some unpacking videos for you guys in Insta (and also uploaded them on Twitter, if you wanted to go see them, since the stories on Insta will have expired by now). This book comes out tomorrow, so I thought it’d be fitting to go with this book considering that, and how excited I am to read it!

It sounds like you had an awesome weekend! I can’t wait to hear all about both bookish events! My weekend was filled with cleaning and packing and moving. Oh, and introducing my boyfriend to my maternal grandparents, who are currently visiting Ohio. I’m really glad for the timing on the trip because they live in Florida, so now I don’t have to worry about their safety.

Warcross was an enjoyable read. I think I’ll have my review up tomorrow–I actually need to go write it up first. I hope you enjoy it as well.

Yes, my weekend was GREAT! Ahhh that sounds like a stressful weekend, but I’m glad that your grandparents decided to visit Ohio when they did!

I will definitely have to read your review once I’ve read the book and posted my own 🙂 (I always try to avoid seeing reviews by other bloggers before reading the book and sharing my own thoughts, because I don’t want other opinions to influence my own!)

Apparently the area where my grandparents live in Florida didn’t even lose power, so they’re lucky. I actually think they left Ohio this morning to head home.

And that’s understandable. I try to keep my reviews spoiler free, but I know that sometimes just another’s feelings of the book can influence our own opinions. Enjoy reading.

I haven’t been following it too closely, but I know that Irma has gone down from a Category 5 to a Category 2. She might even be lower than that by now.

Awe yay! I definitely feel more confident writing about the events now! I wasn’t too sure at first, hehe. I also haven’t read anything by Marie Lu either, so am kind of nervous. But I’ve heard nothing but good things too, so it should go well! I hope that you enjoy Warcross too!
