Calendar Girls (Monthly Blog Event)

Welcome to Calendar Girls! It’s a monthly blog event co-hosted by Melanie and myself, and designed to ignite bookish discussions among readers. Calendar Girls was inspired by the 1961 Neil Sedaka song, Calendar Girl, (because we’re an oldies fanatics!)

– About –

Just like the song, each month has a different, participant-chosen theme, and each blogger picks a book they think best matches that theme (and keep it secret). On the first Monday of the month, every Calendar Girl (and boy), posts reveals their pick, makes a post about it (see the archives below for examples) and links back to the hostess’s posts.

With the link backs, Melanie and I each make a master list of all the book picks for the month. The master lists allow everyone to see the other Calendar Girls’ picks and to pop on over to their blogs. Thus, we all get to chat about books and even make some new friends! We’ve made so many already!

– Stay Up To Date –

We have a newsletter which you can sign up for just to keep you up to date on everything. We only send out emails 1-3 times a month, so we wouldn’t clog up your inbox! The newsletters contain updates regarding the Twitter chat, when posts will be going up (if we ever have to change the date), and will also contain important polls for the months to come! You will be able to pick the favourite pick of the month, as well as the theme for the month to come.

Sign up for the monthly newsletter here!

– Let’s Chat! –

Not only that, but we also started up a monthly twitter chat using the hashtag: #CGBChatEvery third Sunday of the month at 8PM EST, Melanie and I will start off the chat with a discussion question or two to get the ball rolling. From there, just use the hashtag in all your tweets and let the 140 characters fly!
