Welcome to the last My Lady Jane readalong discussion! Yes, I know, I’m sad too! I really enjoyed this month of reading MLJ and discussing it with all of you. I don’t know what I’ll do with myself after this (I wish there was a sequel). But at least I know that I can dive into the next readalong that I’m hosting (which some of you have also joined already, yay!), so there’s that. Anyway, on to the discussion!

If this is the first time you’re hearing about this readalong, you can read the announcement and sign-up post here! I was accepting new participants up to this point, and welcome to all of you who may have joined us since the first discussion! I guess I could accept participants for the next discussions as well? I mean, if you read quick, or are sure that you can catch up, you are welcome to join in and even add to the previous discussions! Just be sure to sign up so that I can keep track of everyone!

It’s finally here! Our first discussion for the My Lady Jane read-a-long! Ever since I started reading this book, I’ve been wanting to discuss it with someone who’s read it, or is reading it too. And I’m so happy that we can all do that now. I don’t know if I could have handled reading this hilarious book on my own, so I’m very very glad that so many of you could join me! And I really do hope that all of you are enjoying it at least half as much as I have been! If this is the first time you’re hearing about this read-a-long, you can read the announcement and sign-up post here! Even though we’re already discussing the book, I will accept new participants as long as you’re sure that you can catch up with us by the next discussion for chapters 9-15 on August 16th!

It’s 1926, and New York is filled with speakeasies, Ziegfeld girls, and rakish pickpockets. The only catch is that she has to live with her uncle Will and his unhealthy obsession with the occult.

Evie worries he’ll discover her darkest secret: a supernatural power that has only brought her trouble so far. But when the police find a murdered girl branded with a cryptic symbol and Will is called to the scene, Evie realizes her gift could help catch a serial killer.

As Evie jumps headlong into a dance with a murderer, other stories unfold in the city that never sleeps. A young man named Memphis is caught between two worlds.
