The Wonderling by Mira Bartók (Book Feature)

26046482.jpgHello everyone! And welcome to my feature post about The Wonderling by Mira Bartók (published today!). This is a children’s/middle grade book that is “[r]eminiscent of classic literary odysseys and the best of contemporary fantasy, with a sprinkling of steampunk” (how it was pitched to me by the publisher, and I love the sound of that mixture!) I, for one, really enjoy classic novels, as well as fantasy, and steampunk, so this book sounds like it’s right up my alley. I will be reading it too, although sadly not until later this year or early in 2018 due to my crazy reading schedule. I did receive a copy before the pub date, though, and I didn’t want for any of you to miss the opportunity to either read this book, or at the very least, get it on your radar (is that the correct phrase? English sounds so foreign to me sometimes….and then I remind myself that it’s my third language. Hah.) Anyway, here is more about the book before I go and ramble some more:

Summary: Ari lost everything she once loved when the Five Guilds’ resistance fell to the Dragon King. Now, she uses her unparalleled gifts for clockwork machinery – and unscrupulous morals – to contribute to a thriving underground organ market. There isn’t a place on Loom that is secure from the engineer turned thief, and her talents are sold to the highest bidder as long as the job defies their Dragon oppressors. Cvareh would do anything to see his sister usurp the Dragon King and sit on the throne. His family’s house has endured the shame of being the lowest rung in the Dragons’ society for far too long. The Alchemist Guild, down on Loom, may just hold the key to putting his kin in power, if Cvareh can get to them before the Dragon King’s assassins. When Ari stumbles upon a wounded Cvareh, she sees an opportunity to slaughter an enemy and make a profit off his corpse. But the Dragon sees an opportunity to navigate Loom with the best person to get him where he wants to go. He offers her the one thing Ari can’t refuse: A wish of her greatest desire, if she brings him to the Alchemists of Loom.

Musing Monday (#13)

monday (1).jpg

Hello and Happy New Year! I am sad that I had to miss last week’s Musing Monday post due to taking a long road trip to Northern Ontario to visit my in-laws for Christmas! I should have pre-written and scheduled a post, but I’m not usually on the ball, or organized enough, to schedule posts haha. I was also very very busy the week before due to the Holidays and all which that entailed! Today was also a busy day, but I decided to write a Musing Monday post for you all, even though Monday will be over in less than 2 hours here, ah!

ezgif-1545491241For those of you who don’t know, Musing Mondays is hosted by the awesome Ambrosia every Monday. This is a book blog meme where participants have to answer one of the pre-set prompts of (I’m currently reading…; Up next I think I’ll read…; I bought the following book(s) in the past week…; I’m super excited to tell you about (book/author/bookish-news)…; I’m really upset by (book/author/bookish-news)…; I can’t wait to get a copy of…; I wish I could read ___, but…; OR I blogged about ____ this past week…). And you also have to answer an additional random question which is different every week!
