I haven’t made one of these posts since August 16th, so I thought that it was due time to make another! Of course, I can’t bring myself to change the intro GIF for these posts, because it’s so fitting, and it’s BTS, and look at how cute they were with their light/pastel hair colours! My cuties. I still remember when they started out…and now I may have to re-visit my very out of date kpop collection. Haha. But anyway, here’s what I’ve been reading, watching, listening to, and trying!
Hello everyone, and welcome to my Top Ten Tuesday post for this week! This theme, or prompt, is one which has me very excited because…I love Fall! I also thought that it’d be an easy choice, but once I looked at the official start and end dates for Fall, my face kind of fell, haha. Choosing the books on my TBR from September 22 to December 21st…well, let’s just say I didn’t know that Fall lasted that long because I live in Canada, and we get snow by some time in November usually. And when there’s snow on the ground, for me it officially becomes winter. But back to the books! Read on if you’d like to see which books I’m most excited to read for the rest of 2017 (and I’ll be listing them in the order that I’ll be reading them)!
Because it’s wasn’t enough for me to go to one awesome book event this past weekend, it just so happened that HarperCollins was hosting their YA preview (titled Frenzy Presents) then too! Because this would be all YA titles, and because Angie Thomas (The Hate U Give), Julie Murphy (Dumplin’ & Ramona Blue) and Becky Albertalli (Simon Vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda) would be attending, I was very very excited for this event. Here’s how it went:
Soooo, I started blogging in April of 2016. Yes, just last year. But it seems like I’ve been doing this for so much longer than that! I feel like this has been my hobby for as long as I can remember. Very strange, all in all. But anyway, here are my top 10 favourite books that I read in the first year that I started my blog…last year…haha. These are all still current favourites as well, which goes to show just how much I liked them. Maybe I’ll have to take a look back in a year, or 2, or 3, and see how I feel about them then? It would be interesting to do, I think!
Oh my goodness. It’s been so long since I’ve made one of these Top Ten Tuesday posts! They went on hiatus for a while, and when they came back, I was just too busy with other things. The themes also didn’t really inspire me. Usually when I would complete the Top Ten Tuesday posts, I would start making a list in my head the moment that I saw the prompt! This didn’t happen for me with the last few prompts, but kind of did for this one? So, I thought, why not get back into it now? I should be reading right now, but really want to be writing in stead, for some reason. Woops.
How is this the 9th monthly Calendar Girls?! And how is it already September?! It feels just like yesterday that Melanie and I were putting our heads together trying to figure out what we wanted our blog event to be. Before we know it, our baby will be turning 1 year old! *sniffle* Well, maybe not quite yet. But anyway! This month it’s all about that contemporary fiction, and I cannot wait to see what all of you will have picked / will pick!
Also, there will be no Calendar Girls themed readalong this month, because Melanie and I are both too busy (me partially because I had already planned to do another readalong this month for A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab. If you’d like to join that, please sign up using the Google Form provided here, and also for the newsletter if you want reminders!)
I’m sorry guys, but Jin was too busy to send out kisses this time around. Also, I really wanted to use an autumn-themed GIF! And what can be more autumn-themed for me, than a pumpkin and a Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte?! Well, maybe a few things. Or many things. But, these are two out of the many things that I love about autumn. I also love Fall fashion, bundling up with a cup of hot tea and a good book. Alright. On to the re-cap!
This month we kicked it old school with some historical fiction novels! And woman, is there a lot of history to choose from. We had books from a variety of different eras, countries, and cultures, but enough of my rambles! Check out the picks yourself! I would also like to personally apologize (Flavia here), for not having been as active on all of your posts this month! As some of you may know, I started a new job at the beginning of the month, and I was also hosting a readalong for Calendar Girls. With all of those things, and other stuff, going on, I’m sorry to say that I have not yet had the time to comment on everyone’s posts! I do promise that I have seen them all though! (If this is your first time hearing about Calendar Girls and are interested in finding out more, you can read my info page about the blog event here!)
It’s update time! First of all, I wanted to apologize for the lack of reviews (and post in general) over the last few weeks. My boyfriend had 2 weeks off (and he doesn’t like to relax and sit around too much, but loves spending time with me…so you can put 2 and 2 together). I was also preparing for, and attending, multiple interviews, which also took up some of my time. And what about weekends, you ask? Those are just as insane, if not more so! But, there has been some progress, so please read on if you enjoy these posts!
How is this the 8th monthly Calendar Girls?! And how is it already August! It feels just like yesterday that Melanie and I were putting our heads together trying to figure out what we wanted our blog event to be. Before we know it, our baby will be turning 1 year old! *sniffle* Well, maybe not quite yet. But anyway! This month it’s all about that historical fiction, and I cannot wait to see what all of you will have picked / will pick!
Also, for those of you who might have missed it, we have made some updates to Calendar Girls Books, specifically to when our monthly #CGBchat is happening on Twitter. I am also hosting a readalong this month, to go with our historical fiction theme, and the book I myself and other participants are reading is My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows. Although we have already started reading, I will continue to accept participants until the first discussion (August 9th). Or maybe longer. I will see how things go. For more info on the readalong and the sign up form, please go here. You can read more about these updates here! I also have an info page about the event now, which is all up to date and everything, and you can go here and bookmark it if you’d like!
